So the other day I was up at the North Pole, see proof of my claim:

And was talking to Santa. I was actually trying to make sure that I was not on the “naughty list”, when he suggested that I offer a special deal to those walk-in customers that we receive at our main service center in Olathe, Kansas.

Since we will be closed Friday – Monday this week, tomorrow we are waiving our front-of-the-line fees for any customer that comes into our shop and needs a repair. We have actually run this special several years in a row now, my technicians really don’t like it, my General Manager hates it, but I LOVE IT.

Our company Christmas party is at Dave and Buster’s in Kansas City (we’re regulars!) on Thursday at 7:00pm. I’m looking forward to my famous WHITE ELEPHANT gift giveaway that always brings a lot of laughs and fun. The Christmas party will kick off our 4 day holiday break, I’m excited for it!

Mission Repair will be closed on Friday December 23rd through Monday December 26th, 2011. This gives our employees a great 4 day weekend that should allow some quality time with their families! We will return to work on December 27th for a mad scramble in a short week.

We then then also be closed for the New Year Holiday on Saturday 12/31 through Monday 1/2/12. We will return to work on Tuesday 1/3/12!

Actually, I’m gearing up for a camping trip this weekend. Yes, you heard me right, I’m heading out in a couple of hours to hit the wilderness in the middle of December, in the middle of Kansas. This last month has been a ruckus for me personally, so I need some quiet nature time to myself.

It’s due to be in the 20′s overnight but I feel like I’m ready for it. I’m heading out with our Shipping Manager, Lennie and we’re going to rough it for a few days. It’s little known but I’m a pretty big outdoor enthusiast and I like to be outside. I try to go camping several times every year and I have plans to hike in Peru soon. In fact, did you know that I scaled Mount Everest? Here’s a shot of me on Everest last year:

It was a nice enough day that I thought a short sleeve shirt was appropriate. It’s not as high as I thought, it took me about 4 minutes to get to the top after I stopped for some s’mores! OK, I know it’s corny, but sometimes life is just too serious for me. I’m trying to make you smile! Did it work?

Well, I need to get my checklist out and I promise to take a few pictures of this weekend – I’ll share them with you next week.

Of course, my first reaction was “how did I not get this across to this customer?!?”

I’m just releasing a quick picture of my “girl”, Layla, who passed her first puppy obedience class!

Here’s Layla, my German shepherd puppy, looking a little worried after her testing She needed to loose-leash walk for 50 yards, respond to “come” and “sit”, then walk through a maze of toys and treats without being distracted by them – responding to the “leave it” command. Finally, she needed to sit for 30 seconds without moving. . .and my girl did perfectly!

German Shepherd Dogs are known for their amazing Police skills and intelligence, but were bred for herding and guarding sheep. Our girl is a smart little one, but at this point the only thing that she is herding are my socks from the laundry basket. “LAYLA LEAVE IT!”

So we’re onto the next intermediate class. If you’ve got a new puppy or a dog that you’d like to be better behaved, I highly recommend the classes at PetSmart. They were awesome.

Well I want to put your mind at ease. . .we’ve hired 4 new employees within the last couple of weeks and I’m offering overtime to all of my technicians so we can stay on top of our service. In fact, we’ve come up with a new management style and management philosophy here at Mission Repair and this picture speaks for itself:

Hey, I was hoping to get a pretty good laugh from this Get it, we are hand cuffing the technicians to the tech bench? OK, it’s not completely true, because they get time off for good behavior as a benefit!

On a serious note we are rocking over here and I am just kidding of course Jake is not really cuffed to the desk. . .however I bet that he “feels” that he is. Confidence is high and we’re in the thick of it. I’ll talk to you again soon!
