Hello happy Friday Blog Readers!

I was pleasantly surprised when Darren Smith from Junk Mafia stopped by and offered to have us on his radio show, KCXL 1140 in Kansas City- So here it is, and it’s official: I will be on the radio on September 9, 2010.

Wanna hear me squirm on the air? Tune in on September 9 and I’ll be on the show for an hour. If you’re not in our listening area, I’ll be sure to post the recording here in the blog! We’ll be talking about Mission Repair and how we keep electronics in consumers hands rather than in a landfill. It’s just part of what we do!!

Mission Repair Quality Control. Does the competition stand a chance?

Happy Friday everyone- we are happy to bring another level of expertise and peace of mind when you use Mission Repair as your Apple Service Provider of choice. We have always performed Quality Control and Quality Assurance here in our service lab, but I just wanted to take the time to tell you a little more about it. When you receive a repair back from us, enclosed you’ll find a card that looks something like this:

What you see here is a culmination of work and double checks and pride that goes into each and every repair. On the left, you see your Technician’s name. In this case, it’s Brandon, with his email address and his telephone extension. On the right you see the Quality Control Technician, who is Huck, with his contact information listed as well.

How can we improve this? Let me know. After the technician performs his repair, the device is sent to the Quality Control Department for QA check. The QA Tech then a complete overview and assurance check of the part(s) that were installed, then places the QA Sheet into the box which moves on to shipping.

Could we make the repair process any better? Well of course we make mistakes. Of course we have warranty repairs that we need to perform. The fact is that we just have one of the best RMA rates in the business. That’s good for you and Mission Repair – it just takes a little extra work to make it right

1095 Emails. I’m gonna be here a while!

Well, I’ve hired 4 new employees in the last week. Business is really ramping up and it’s obvious that we are in dire need of assistance. My email inbox is living proof of it!

I guess this blog is to inform you that if you’ve emailed me, I’m not ignoring you- I’ll be in touch VERY soon. Thanks for your patience, and as I delegate some of these out to my new SUPER STAFF here at Mission Repair, we’ll get my email back under control! 1095, yikes!

Hey there everyone- we are making some changes (constantly I might add) to our website and we just added a “Meet the Staff” page. This is going to be a fun page that will allow you see inside of the business that saves the day.

So Marc and Huck volunteered to inaugurate the new page and they have their profiles up. Keep an eye out on the “Meet the Staff” page and we’ll rotate in new employees monthly. Send them an email, they will love it!

Mission Repair at the movies – follow up!

Well hello everyone- what a great time it was last night at the movies- a group of us from Mission Repair went out to see Dinner for Schmucks – we had dinner and a couple of adult beverages at the AMC 30 here in Olathe.

Here’s what my group had to say about the event last night!

Marc: “I ate too many cheese sticks.”
Jenny: “They told Van Gogh he couldn’t paint..and he said, I can’t hear you.”
Brandon: “It’s a good time. I found out that I love mousterpieces.”
Matt: “The movie was over-hyped.”
Huck: “It was funny but I find movies like that to be really stressful.”
Jake: “Fish and Chips were awesome. Let’s order another bucket of beer!”
Troy: “It was. . .eh.”
Charley: “Smells like bacon.”

Personally, I found the movie a bit silly, but that’s just what it needed to be for me. I wanted something that was going to be a good laugh, and I’m a Steve Carell fan so I couldn’t go wrong. The best part of the night was just hanging around with our group, waiting for the movie to start, and getting table service at our reserved seats.

I’m looking forward to our next movie night with the group. Hopefully we can do it again soon. Too bad the Smurfs movie isn’t due out until the middle of next year

Dinner for Mission Repair!

Hello everyone- OK, we’ve been so busy here I can’t even find time to write a blog post! It’s been a couple of weeks of interviews (I had over 500 applicants for 2 positions that I was filling), we hired another shipping employee, another new iPhone technician, started a new QA program that is sure to be a huge success, and had 2 new customer service representatives start this week. Pretty soon I get to get some rest!

I’m starting tonight. I invited the entire company to a movie tonight. It’s date night at Mission Repair and I’m taking everyone out to see “Dinner for Schmucks” at our local AMC 30. It’s also a “Fork and Screen” presentation so we get dinner and drinks served to our table while we watch the movie, it’s pretty cool! It’s a good way for the entire business to bond and get some laughs in- well, at least I hope the movie is funny. If not we’ll just have to make some comedy up ourselves. The “Dinner for Hucks” joke is already getting old with my QA Administrator, Huck, who doesn’t see the humor in it!

OK, so tomorrow I’ll report back and get a quote from each employee that attends the showing tonight- talk to you in the morning!!

iPhone 4 Back Case Repairs announced!!

Hello everyone- I’m back in the saddle from a few days out of town (there’s a tiger in the bathroom!) and recovering from the fun in Nevada. . .and from the heat. It was 115 degrees on the Vegas strip last Saturday, yikes! I left my jacket in the hotel room

Hey we are making some magic happen around here at Mission Repair and we just landed our supply of iPhone 4 back cases. You know, the ones that are made out of glass? The same type of glass that makes up the front face of the iPhone? Well, they are cracking too. We announced it yesterday and we have already taken orders for this repair, it’s obviously going to be a good one!

JUST RELEASED: IPHONE 4 BACK CASE REPAIR!

We have them in black and white, but since the white iPhones haven’t been released yet, you’d probably want the black one!

Lawrence Apple Users Group meeting was a success!

Hello everyone, it was a late night last night as we finished up our presentation at the Lawrence Apple Users Group Meeting that we asked to attend- as usual, I can take a short story and make it long, but the folks in attendance were absolutely awesome and posed a lot of good questions for Mission Repair. I entered the meeting with a rough draft of a plan, and ended up having a repair “contest” between two of my technicians (Jake and Brandon) to see which of them could fix an iPhone cracked glass the fastest. Brandon pulled out the victory.

They lined up on a table and got to work. . .and as they were repairing, I spoke about the iPhone, iPad and Mission Repair. I felt pretty great about the meeting and had a wonderful time. It’s really nice to reach out to the public like that. I’ve personally been in the business since 1994 working on many Apple items and I know that there has to be something I can share I still LOVE Apple’s products. I saw some old familiar faces and met many new ones. . .it was a success and I was able to add 30 or so emails to my newsletter list.

Rumor has it that some of the video from last night will be uploaded for everyone’s enjoyment. I’m looking forward to that and I’ll post it if I see it. Thanks to Dr. Dave for the invite, it was a blast.
