My book is complete! Almost.

March 11, 2013

Hi everyone, any published authors out there? Well there are none here – yet!

I don’t know if you remember, but I blogged several months ago (on July 18, 2012 to be exact!) about being asked to write a book for the Globe Pequot Press titled: How to Start a home-based Computer Repair Business.

My keyboard has been on fire for the last 8 months!

My keyboard has been on fire for the last 8 months!

Since July, I have been diligently working nights and weekends to get it done. In fact, after several “back and forth” edits and revisions with my editor, I received this email from her today:

———————————-
Ryan,

Awesome, thanks! Off to production it goes. I should have first pages for you in about three weeks!
———————————-

What does that mean for me? I have my nights and weekends back! For anyone that has ever written a book of any length (mine is about 70,000 words) I now have a huge understanding of the process and a deep respect for authors unlike ever before. This process is time consuming, tedious, and one must have an attention for detail. There are other parts of being an author that I didn’t really understand until I did it. In fact, I went back through the earlier parts of the manuscript and I had forgotten about some of the things that I wrote about early on. Yikes, where did the time go!

Well 8+ months later, a mild case of carpal tunnel and a new respect for writing, it’s complete. I was told that I’d see the first chapter in “print format” for approval in about 3 weeks before the printing press runs the thousands of copies for Amazon.com.

What’s in the book? Well, if you’re interested in owning your very own version of my company, Mission Repair, I tell you all the secrets and ways to get your business started and running to success. All you need to do is buy the book ;-)

Ok then, so a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Check this project off the list!

Take care, Ryan

Faster Service On 11″ And 13″ Macbook Air Screen Repairs!

December 6, 2012

Hello M:R Nation -

Things at Mission:Repair are always moving at a fast pace. From our Customer Service to our Shipping and Receiving departments, things just fly. This is by design. The quicker we can receive, test, repair and quality check your device, the better for everyone. So you can imagine my elation when we shave some time off of a particular process. We have done so with our Macbook Air Screen services! What used to take a full week to repair, has now been shaved to only 72 Hours!

Macbook_Air

Why would it take 72 hours (let alone 1 Week) to repair you ask? Well, the design on the newer Macbook Air is very thin and complex. So thin in fact, there is not even a removable LCD screen in it! It is built in layer by layer in the top lid. This brings a whole new complexity to the repair and most folks could not do it in their basement. To repair these computers, requires a clean room and other expensive equipment that you can’t easily come by. It is a pain staking repair and I would not wish it on my worst enemy :-)

So, with a little ingenuity and a lot of practice, we have quickened our turn around time on this service. My technicians are working hard to to get this time down even further and you should expect to see another post on this very soon! So please allow me to give you a short cut to these new and improved services:

Glossy 13″ MacBook Air LCD Screen Repair (72 Hour Turnaround)

Matte 13″ MacBook Air LCD Screen Repair (72 Hour Turnaround)

Glossy 11″ MacBook Air LCD Screen Repair (72 Hour Turnaround)

Matte 11″ MacBook Air LCD Screen Repair (72 Hours Turnaround)

Until we meet again!

Cheers, Troy

FREE SHIPPING at Mission Repair! How much does it cost?

November 26, 2012

Hello folks, happy Cyber Monday!

Did you watch the news this morning? Our local channel was talking a lot about Cyber Monday and the fact that it’s the busiest day of the year for Internet sales. We are in the thick of it here at Mission Repair as we had the biggest sales weekend in the company history, and have already begun the day breaking sales records – in fact at 9:45am this morning, we’ve taken more orders than any typical Monday. It’s clear that Cyber Monday is not a typical day!!

Our phones are on fire today. This is not literal interpretation of what our phones look like ;-)

So, we are feverishly answering the phones. Truthfully, we are doing quite well. Our staff of amazing customer service representatives is getting to each call at an amazing pace. Please, if you call in and they seem to get the the point “quickly” don’t take it personally- it’s more likely that we’ve got 10 other customers waiting in out call queue and we want to make sure every gets the attention they deserve. In fact if you’ve called in this morning, I may even answer – which is a rare thing these days! Heck, I don’t mind working the front lines and I’ve already said hello to a few walk in customers and I’m not above taking care of our customers. It’s our way of life.

Our free shipping option has been an amazing hit! Why didn’t I think of this sooner?!?

Speaking of taking care of our customers- did you see that we are now offering FREE SHIPPING on every repair? That’s right. We are PROUD to bring you a complete solution when it comes to your iPhone or Smartphone repair- FREE SHIPPING from Mission Repair (and we USE FEDEX – the best in the business!).

Have a good Cyber Monday – and make sure that your boss doesn’t see you shopping online today, that would be bad ;-)

Talk to you again soon, Ryan

No Shave November!

November 1, 2012

Hello M:R Nation -

I have a few blokes here at Mission Repair that were talking about participating in “No Shave November”. The main reason for this is to raise awareness for men’s health, but there have been many tales of its origins. I myself, think its simply an excuse to be lazy and I embrace that!

I have a total of 8 gents that I will be chronicling for the next 4 weeks. I will take a picture of their progress once a week and post it right here on our wonderful blog!

Say Hi to Jake, David, nick, Ryan, Albert, Phil, Justin and Lennie!

So here they are, the 8 brave/lazy souls participating in this storied tradition(I’ll spare you and them of a large sized picture )! As you can see, some of them already have a head start. This should make for some epic beardness for sure! While I sport quite the fancy beard myself, I am not 100% sure that I will let it grow rugged yet. I will keep you updated on that decision.

We like to turn things into a competition around here and this is going to be no different. While I have no idea on how I will decide the winner yet, I do know the prize. I find it a much needed prize to be handed out in this situation. It is a years subscription to the Dollar Shave Club paid for by Mission Repair! I love this company and am a proud member so I can vouch for the prize!

I would like to make this something our readers can benefit from as well, I will also provide a years subscription to the most Epic beard or other hair growth (I know it sounds nasty, but we are about equality here at MR, so men and woman are welcome to join but keep it PG) to one of our brave/lazy readers :-) !

To join the competition, you will need to send in 4 different pictures to troy@missionrepair.com titled NSN Entry and here is what I will need from you:

1) Starting Point Picture

2) Week 2 growth

3) Week 3 growth

4) Final Week growth

By joining the competition, you agree to have your picture posted here on the MR Blog if you are named the winner. Happy November to everyone and good luck on those beards!

please note: This competition in no way, shape or form will interfere with our awesome iPhone, iPodiPad, Smartphone, tablet, Mac or PC repair services !

Cheers, Troy

The key to success!

August 8, 2012

Hello everyone, here’s a pic of Kim (in sales) entering our Service Lab:

Notice that she’s holding a key card with a smile? We just had our new security system installed and there’s a reason that I’m blogging about it.

I want all of my customers to know that when you use Mission Repair, we are doing everything we can to make sure that your device (and data) are safe. We have a very secure building with night-vision cameras, state of the art security system, time lock solid-core security doors, a key-card entry system (with a sensor on every door – except for the bathrooms!) and even a locked secure cage that keeps your device secure in the event that it needs to spend the night at our service lab. I’ve also got a few other goodies installed that keep me comfortable when we’re away, I’ll keep these surprises to myself ;-) We can even track the movements of our employees within the business to see who is where at all times. Is it “Big Brother Watching”? No. It’s the smart thing to do and it keeps us all accountable!

Why do we do all of this? It’s for peace of mind. We’ve never had to deal with a burglary or break in at our repair center (KNOCK ON WOOD!) and our customers like knowing that we’re not just some fancy website without the operations to back up our business. Keeping our customer units safe and secure is a top priority while we have possession, period.

It’s one more Reason to trust Mission Repair with your broken iPad or MacBook Repair. We’re the Intelligent Choice.

Take care, Ryan
