iPod Classic Repairs!

February 1, 2013

Hello M:R Nation,

Did you know that the iPod Classic is the longest running design in Apples arsenal? Thats right! It has been on the shelves since 2007 and with only a few minor revisions like larger capacity hard drives and thinner back casings have been done over the years.

So why has the iPod Classic for the most part been left untouched by Apple (A company known to redesign on a drop of a dime)? Our guess is that it is pretty close to perfect in their eyes OR the cost of flash memory (storage in all of the other iDevices) is still so high, that they can’t come close to a comparable storage/priced iPod touch at the moment.

I just registered the kids for school!

July 20, 2011

Hello all, I got an automated email from my kid’s high school suggesting to register them this week, which I did. I went through the information, gave them my payments, added money into their lunch accounts and clicked “Register NOW”. I think that I might not tell them yet. . .that I registered them. . .because it just brings some “reality” to the summer. I mean they have been off of school for a couple of months now and the SHOCK of thinking that they have to go back soon has not become a reality yet.

I think that I’ll be a good dad and give them another week of no stress or worry about getting back to the classroom.

Summer as a child is an amazing time. I can still remember the feeling of being “free”, staying up late and sleeping in. Swim parties and the beach were always on my mind!

That being said, we’ve had a ton of summer “mishaps” coming through our repair center, liquid damage being a huge culprit. Water and electronics don’t play well and we’re continually dealing with liquid damaged iPhones and iPods. It’s a normal thing here at our repair center and we have a few tips and tricks that can help increase your odds when this might happen to you. Click here if you’ve gotten your iPhone wet!

Regardless let’s issue a new coupon code today. I was intending to give a new coupon out on Friday of last week – thanks for everyone’s patience. I was out of the office until today, so this one will be good through Sunday, 7/24/2011. Just use coupon code “school” to immediately get 10% off of your iPhone repair, or any other repair service or part that we offer, expires on July 24, 2011 at midnight!

Until school starts, enjoy that long hot summer and we’ll be back soon to talk a little more business!

Best, Ryan

Lawrence Apple Users Group meeting was a success!

July 8, 2010

Hello everyone, it was a late night last night as we finished up our presentation at the Lawrence Apple Users Group Meeting that we asked to attend- as usual, I can take a short story and make it long, but the folks in attendance were absolutely awesome and posed a lot of good questions for Mission Repair. I entered the meeting with a rough draft of a plan, and ended up having a repair “contest” between two of my technicians (Jake and Brandon) to see which of them could fix an iPhone cracked glass the fastest. Brandon pulled out the victory.

Yup, that's me trying to keep my cool!

They lined up on a table and got to work. . .and as they were repairing, I spoke about the iPhone, iPad and Mission Repair. I felt pretty great about the meeting and had a wonderful time. It’s really nice to reach out to the public like that. I’ve personally been in the business since 1994 working on many Apple items and I know that there has to be something I can share ;-) I still LOVE Apple’s products. I saw some old familiar faces and met many new ones. . .it was a success and I was able to add 30 or so emails to my newsletter list.

Rumor has it that some of the video from last night will be uploaded for everyone’s enjoyment. I’m looking forward to that and I’ll post it if I see it. Thanks to Dr. Dave for the invite, it was a blast.

Thanks everyone, Ryan

AT&T Maintains its Grip on the iPhone until 2012.

May 11, 2010

I normally don’t “re-press” news that I see on the internet – however I thought that this was interesting. I read in PCWorld a few minutes ago that Apple and AT&T have struck a deal THROUGH 2012. What happened to Verizon? Oh well. Hang in there Ver’ your chance will come.

I wish AT&T had better service. How about you? You know what I’d like? 4G mobile broadband service. Oops – I’ve said too much, we’ll be back VERY SOON with info on 4G mobile WIMAX broadband. Never heard of it? You will in a month.

OK, well there we have it. AT&T and Apple and the iPhone are on lock down for a couple more years. I guess I’ll let my contract renew and we’ll deal with the issues. Still better than NOT having an iPhone!

Ryan
