iPad Mini screen repairs, not just a fairy tale.

May 14, 2013

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since we’ve talked!

You know that Mission Repair is synonymous with electronic repairs, specifically consumer electronics that are hand-held, popular, and part of our lives. Like Apple products! If you know anything about me, then you know that I’m an Apple fanatic and love using my Apple products on a daily basis. In fact, I haven’t pulled the trigger and purchased an iPad mini yet…I bet if I bought one for my wife I might get to use it once in a while around the house ;-)

That brings me to my next topic – iPad Mini glass repairs. You’ll notice that there aren’t a ton of repair shops performing these repairs – but Mission Repair does. What’s the story?

“The Hero That Could Be”

Once upon a time, there was an electronics repair center, Mission Repair in the Kansas City area. They serviced units across the entire USA and performed repairs on iPods, iPads, Computers and Smartphones within 24 hours. Sometimes they even would fix devices while customers waited in their lobby.

One day the iPad Mini was released and to everyone’s surprise on the very next day, Mission Repair received a broken iPad Mini at their location for repair. They knew that this was their chance to make someone happy. So they went to work and developed a brand new procedure to perform these repairs quickly and inexpensively for all the world’s customers.

To this day, Mission Repair is setting the standard on iPad Mini glass repair and many of the other repair centers are sending units to them for service. Customers from all corners of the globe are reaching to Mission Repair for help, and they are willing to assist anyone in need.

Everyone lived happily ever after.

These repairs aren’t a fairy tale. This story is true and will last right here on the Mission Repair blog for generations to come.

Ok, I’m just trying to have a little fun today so what’s the big deal? Well it’s quite simple. These repairs are not easy and take a significant amount of skill to solder a component onto a fragile cable that’s attached to the digitizer on the new glass. Not every repair shop in the industry can perform this repair with accuracy. Of course, Mission Repair can.

The iPad mini was announced in October of 2012, and to date we have nearly 1,000 of these repairs performed successfully. You can count on Mission Repair to be there for you.

So how about a bit of a kicker? Use coupon code “fairytale” to receive $20 off your next iPad mini glass repair. This special is good through 5/31/13 so act fast!

iPad 2 VS The New iPad(3) VS iPad With Retina Display(4)

December 12, 2012

Hello M:R Nation -

I think there might be some confusion among folks over the differences are between the different iPad models. So allow me to shed some light on some of the subtle and not so subtle differences.

Form the outside, you are not going to be able to notice much, if any differences at first glance. All 3 devices are 9.50″ x 7.31″ x 0.37″, all have a 9.7″ display and all sport a facetime and rear camera, but a great way to tell the difference between an iPad 2 and the others is the Siri function. All newer generation iOS devices have Siri.

Now to tell the difference between the The New iPad and iPad With Retina Display is very simple, just look at the bottom of the iPad. You will see  The New iPad  has the old 30 pin connector and the iPad With Retina Display sports the great new “Lightning” connector which looks like this:

Those are just some industry tips that we use here daily to identify what you are sending to us. While most folks get it right, we do have the occasional customer that orders the wrong service. Hopefully this can serve as a guide for those of you that are not quite sure. Moving forward, lets talk about the inside of these great devices.

This is where it can get complicated, so I won’t go too in depth. The iPad 2 had a lot less in common with it’s two successors when it comes to the internals. Take the glass/digitizer for an example. The iPad 2 has a completely different connector than the The New iPad and the iPad With Retina Display which share the same cable (Shown in the picture below).

In fact, the LCD is the same on the two successors as well. Now, we don’t usually disclose this type of information, but I want to make one thing clear, The New iPad and the iPad with Retina display use the SAME screen. So PLEASE, don’t fall for the marketing tricks of other companies and pay more for the iPad with Retina display, It is exactly the same and it should cost the same as The New iPad repair!

For further internal information, check out this comparison chart. It really shows some key differences and similarities between the 3 models.

As you can see, looks can be deceiving. While these 3 models look identical, they are for the most part different and different for the better. This is what Apple is known for. Taking something great and slightly improving it for the better.

Lastly, I want to shed some light on the biggest thing these 3 iPads have fiercely in common. Mission:Repair services all of them! We do the leg work on finding the differences and sourcing those different parts so you don’t have to deal with it:-)!

From screens to headphone jacks and everything in between, we are you one stop shop for iPad repair. I hope this post has helped you to identify what iPad you own. Even if it is not broken, it’s still good to just know. If it is broken, I hope find some of the links below helpful. Just click and enjoy!

iPad Glass Screen Lesson. Cracked = Not Good. Repaired = Good.

October 23, 2012

Hello everyone, I’ve been scouring the internet doing a little market research and if you’ve been following the blog at all lately, we’ve added a ton of new products and services. My General Manager Troy has really been at it hard finding and creating these new part numbers so we can offer them as soon as we can!

While I was doing my weekly website reviews, I have noticed a couple of our competitors have started adopting our exclusive “Got Repair” benefits (albeit they offer them under a different name) which is good to see. . .I mean, it’s just the right thing to do in this industry. In this business we know that devices are fragile and can crack. They are made of glass ;-)

As I’ve said in the past, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…and in this case it appears that even the competition is taking notice, good job everyone! The Mission Repair “Got Repair” program benefits means that if you ever use Mission Repair for your screen repair, and if it ever breaks again even if you drop it, all you need to do is give us a call and we’ll repair it again for you under this program. That’s it.

For example, let’s say you bought yourself a shiny new iPad last week, and then dropped and cracked the screen. I know this can happen, not only is my iPhone 5 currently cracked, but we see over 1,000 iPads in our service center every month with cracked screens- and we’re sympathetic to every one. So you do a little research, love our service, and get your cracked iPad into us for service. We will take the unit in, install a brand new glass panel, test the device through our QA department, and get it back to you just as soon as humanly possible. How soon you ask? We can even do it for you while you wait if you come visit our service lab in Olathe.

You’re back to “happy” again – but then try to imagine if that screen was broken again :-(

I know, it’s an accident, it’s a terrible thing, and you had to have it repaired once – you might even ask “why me”? Well this is where you thank yourself for using Mission Repair to fix your ailing iPad – because we already have you in our system and because we want you to remember us and always use us for your electronics repair needs. So we will repair that same glass panel again and you’ll never pay full price again. It’s a thank you from Mission Repair to you, and it helps ease the pain of a bad situation. Does this mean that you’ll always pay if you ever have a problem with your screen after we repair it? No! The screen does come with a full ONE YEAR warranty against manufacturer defects and we’d be happy to repair it again if something fails under this warranty, and at no charge to you whatsoever!

So remember Mission Repair lesson #213. Cracked iPad Glass = Not Good. Repaired iPad Glass = Good.

Talk to you again soon, Ryan

Do you need a reliable repair center for your business or school?

August 14, 2012

Hello folks, it’s no secret that Mission Repair is a leader in iPad repair. In fact, we’ve received the “Gold Award” from the independent TopTenReviews.com 4 years in a row, for the best iPhone repair website on the internet! We directly reach thousands of customers each month and perform services like no other business on the planet by offering the best overnight shipping rates, amazing repair prices and the best LIFETIME warranties available. I mean the “best available” because we invented them! See our GOT REPAIR program details ;-)

What makes Mission Repair even more unique is the sheer number of customers that we indirectly reach. We provide service options to over 100 other small businesses, schools and large retailers as a True 3rd Party Depot Repair Center.

You may have noticed that iPod or iPad repair was available at a retailer or online, or even in your hometown – and we have partnerships with businesses like these to perform their repairs while they make the money! All they need to do it take advantage of their location and offer the same services we offer. We give deep discounts to large volume dealers and everyone wins. . .especially the customer.

Additionally, we are giving deep discounts to schools and Government agencies that require ongoing service contracts and repairs for the 1:1 programs that are being adopted across the nation. Why pay for insurance that you may never use when we can show you how it’s going to be much less expensive by signing a Mission Repair Service Contract.

We have really stepped up our Dealer communications (we now have a toll-free dealer hotline!) that is available to all dealers that are on contract with Mission Repair. This was born out of necessity as the calls just keep coming in. Our dealer service department is staffed and ready to take on the world – one iPod repair at a time ;-) Give us a call!

The key to success!

August 8, 2012

Hello everyone, here’s a pic of Kim (in sales) entering our Service Lab:

Notice that she’s holding a key card with a smile? We just had our new security system installed and there’s a reason that I’m blogging about it.

I want all of my customers to know that when you use Mission Repair, we are doing everything we can to make sure that your device (and data) are safe. We have a very secure building with night-vision cameras, state of the art security system, time lock solid-core security doors, a key-card entry system (with a sensor on every door – except for the bathrooms!) and even a locked secure cage that keeps your device secure in the event that it needs to spend the night at our service lab. I’ve also got a few other goodies installed that keep me comfortable when we’re away, I’ll keep these surprises to myself ;-) We can even track the movements of our employees within the business to see who is where at all times. Is it “Big Brother Watching”? No. It’s the smart thing to do and it keeps us all accountable!

Why do we do all of this? It’s for peace of mind. We’ve never had to deal with a burglary or break in at our repair center (KNOCK ON WOOD!) and our customers like knowing that we’re not just some fancy website without the operations to back up our business. Keeping our customer units safe and secure is a top priority while we have possession, period.

It’s one more Reason to trust Mission Repair with your broken iPad or MacBook Repair. We’re the Intelligent Choice.

Take care, Ryan
