Jailbreak that iPhone 3G? Think about it first!

By ryanarter

Hello out there!

Apple is cracking down on it’s “jailbreaking” policy and has updated it’s agreement with Developers (per the recent iPhone Developer Program License Agreement) – this is the agreement that all iPhone developers are required to follow – which clearly disallows jailbreaking, assisting in jailbreaking, and developing jailbreak apps. This includes restricting developers from jailbreaking the own phones. There are many other new rules all related to jailbroken phones and apps. Not good news for the jailbreak iPhone fans out there who want to use their own software, I get it!

Of course, there’s always the stance that you don’t have to listen to Apple. You can jailbreak your iPhone and use another carrier. However we’ve seen so many bricked and unusable iPhones in our business due to jailbreaking, we highly recommend NOT DOING IT! Once your logic board is bricked, you’re stuck with trying to figure a way out of it. Good luck with that, and you can forget Apple support at that point as well. Your entire iPhone is out-of-warranty!

On the flip side, I was able to mess around with an iPhone with 3.0 beta software this weekend. Yup, the cut and paste option is an amazing addition as with several other “needed” improvements. Looking forward to the formal release that will further the advancement of the iPhone to the public.

Personally, I’m sticking to the rules. AT&T is fine with me and iPhone 3.0 software looks great! Let me know what you think about it. . .

Take care, Ryan
