Mission Repair is on Squidoo and 5% off Valentine’s Day Special!

February 13, 2009

Hello all- we’re now on Squidoo, a very cool website that’s just my style. I like the casual, laid back discussions and help that everyone is willing to give!

Check out our latest Squidoo lens on iPhone 3G adhesives and glass installations.

Now, of course I’m going to run some business ideas through there, but to be honest I have a lot to talk about outside of the business world. . .I’ll certainly be adding some of my hobbies and interests (I love off-roading!) so keep an eye out for some of my “other” favorite topics. Like football. And little league baseball. And XBOX 360. Well, we’ll see what else I can get on there!

Ok then, it looks like we’re wrapping up a stellar week here at Mission Repair. But before I go. . .have a happy Valentine’s Day! If you didn’t already notice, we’re offering 5% off any order placed between now and Sunday night! Just enter coupon code “BEMINE” when checking out online and we’ll lovingly take 5% off your iPod, iPhone, MacBook or any other repair we offer! It’s a special deal, have a great weekend.

Best, Ryan

13″ MacBook Unibody Glass Removed! Mission Repair can do it!

February 11, 2009

Hello curious 13″ MacBook Unibody readers! We were successful in removing the glass panel from a screen assembly without destroying it. This is a feat in and amongst some Guinness World Record criteria. I swear ;-)

Well, it’s not easy, that’s for sure. We’ve had several customers send their units in that have cracked LED LCD panels, but the glass is in tact. These new Unibody units are so thin and lightweight- it’s awesome. However small “accidents” are causing screen problems for many customers, including LED LCD cracks and glass cracks. The glass is remarkably thin as well!

Removed without damage. Cool!

Removed without damage. Cool!

Nice dust seal attached to LED LCD.

To get a glimpse of all of our 13″ Macbook Unibody Glass and LED LCD removal pics that we took today, visit our page here!

We are very close to having our glass panels arrive from manufacturing, so soon we’ll be able to drastically reduce the price on this repair and we’ll pass the savings on to the customer, I promise! Until then, we are still performing 13″ MacBook Unibody Glass/LCD Repairs by replacing the entire upper housing and they are working great. Stay tuned for more updates on this repair!

Thanks, Ryan

But I just had to talk about our weather here in Kansas City for a moment. It was 70 Degrees as a high yesterday. Pretty nice for February. Then this morning, at about 9:30 am, snowballs started dropping from the sky. These were the biggest flakes I’ve seen in a long time. Ann, as she was looking outside, mentioned that she felt like she was in a snow globe. Yup, it was pretty interesting! I had to step out and take a quick picture from our front door for nostalgia.

Ok, talk to you again later this afternoon with some 13″ MacBook Unibody Glass “answers”.

See ya, Ryan

iPhone 3G Broken Battery Issue!

February 6, 2009

Hello all, we’re just about to get out of here for the night but had to post a quick “have a good weekend” blog-

We had a customer, Patty, send us her iPhone for diagnosis. We had it picked up and brought in via FedEx (as we do with most of our units!) and Ian checked it out. It seemed dire.

The unit was booting up to the Apple logo, then just rebooting over and over and wouldn’t connect to iTunes. Ian took the time to give it a proper diagnosis and checked out every component in the unit starting at the digitizer working his way to the backplate.

When Ian got to the battery, he found some damage on the battery connection. This was odd, and when he spoke to the customer, she stated that the phone had been dropped. So the conclusion is that the battery was actually “jostled” inside the phone, causing many weird symptoms. Once the battery was replaced, all was right in the world. Patty is getting her iPhone back, and for a fraction of what we all thought the initial repair was going to cost. This issue could have easily been a bad logic board, and a “dishonest” repair center could have easily tried to take advantage of the situation. Not here at Mission Repair- we want customers for life!

Ok, I’m going to take Ian out to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner and a brew for a job well done. (We want employees for life too!)

Take care, Ryan
